Eroski opens the Portal de la Marina Shopping Centre and a hypermarket in Ondara, at a cost of 135 million euros

  • Date: martes, 19 de febrero de 2008

The driving force behind the new shopping centre is a new EROSKI hypermarket, providing more than 100 direct jobs. Just like all Eroski workers, the Eroski Ondara staff can participate in the ownership, results and management of the company, once they have completed the integration process into the team of workers. There are 1,200 Eroski workers in the Valencia region and more than half of them are owners as well.

The EROSKI hypermarket will have a sales area of 7,000 square metres, more than 35,000 articles on sale, 1,500 shopping trolleys and 18 checkouts.

The EROSKI hypermarket offers all the features that distinguish this format, which in the opinion of consumers stands out for leadership in fresh produce, for offering consumers the best information on its own brand products and for offering products at very competitive prices, in convenient, modern installations.

In the Valencia region EROSKI operates a chain of stores consisting of 13 EROSKI hypermarkets, 10 EROSKI/viajes travel agency branches, 3 EROSKI/center supermarkets, 3 petrol stations, 5 Forum sport stores and 17 If perfume stores.

It has 1,200 workers after the recent takeover of several Caprabo stores, of whom almost half are owner-workers. Purchasing from local producers accounted for more than 140 million euros last year, marking a growing trend.

The EROSKI chain of stores is made up of 114 EROSKI hypermarkets, 1,042 EROSKI/center, Caprabo and EROSKI/city supermarkets, 266 EROSKI/viajes travel agency branches, 52 petrol stations, 42 Forum Sport stores, 295 If perfume stores, 4 Abac leisure and culture outlets and 26 goods depots. 584 self-service stores are also operated on a franchise basis. In France, EROSKI operates 4 hypermarkets, 16 supermarkets and 17 petrol stations.
